The International Cricket Council (ICC) has shared the trailer for the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup which kicks off on October 5 with the match between New Zealand and England. In the trailer, famous Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan can be seen narrating the current World Cup campaign theme which is “Someday”. The trailer features cricketers from all ten participating teams with cameos from Shikhar Dhawan, Jemimah Rodrigues and Muttiah Muralitharan.

Pakistani fans don’t like the trailer. The reason is obvious: the players of Pakistan are not as present as those of all the other teams. You can see a few glimpses of Shaheen Shah Afridi but that’s it. Even Pakistani captain Babar Azam is missing from the trailer, which didn’t impress Pakistani fans at all.

Fans have complained that world No. 1 hitter Babar is not in the World Cup trailer. Not to mention, Babar is also the captain of Pakistan in all formats.
Some of the reactions are: “Jaani thora aur dukhi dikha do Pakistani ko?”. One user commented: “The promo looks like India have won the last 3 ICC titles and the No.1 ODI batter does not exist.” Another wrote: “Understood, so only Australia, England and India play this time! Chalo is enjoying the love triangle until someone does it against ‘the spirit of the game’.”

World number 1 ranked ODI hitter Babar Azam who has long ruled the 50 overs format was not included in the official ODI World Cup promotional video. Is it maybe because he comes from Pakistan? https://t.co/G8ExOKOav6—F (@falahtah) July 20, 2023

This, however…total ****. Under the influence of India and England. Mentions Pakistan (and the West Indies, oddly) in passing and in terms of needing sympathy. Cricket deserves better. https://t.co/m5YZ9dss02—George Dobell (@GeorgeDobell1) July 20, 2023
Among the four visuals there, one of them is an Indian consoling a Pakistani fan. Pakistan have never beaten India in the ICC ODI World Cup. Another visual is of Mohammad Amit being bowled. Absent from these clips are Pakistani superstar cricketers Shaheen, Babar.
The competition between India and Pakistan in the World Cup is one to watch. The clash will take place on November 15 at Narendra Modi Stadium and the fans are eagerly waiting for this game. Tickets for the India vs Pakistan game have not yet been released. Hotel rates in Ahmedabad have skyrocketed for the same reason. Fans are ready to gamble the high prices for hotel rooms and hostels to watch the highly anticipated game between India and Pakistan.
