6 ways to speed up email on your phone
1. Update your phone and messaging app
Using an outdated messaging app can cause slow performance and compatibility issues. Make sure you’ve installed the latest version of your messaging app and the latest software for your particular device, as updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements.

- Faucet Settings
- Scroll down and tap General
- Click on Software updateto see the latest version of iOS
Faucet Install now . If you see Download and installinstead, tap it to download the update, enter your passwordthen touch Install now .

- Open the Settings app and scroll to Software update and press it
Press on Download and install for all available updates.
If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now. Once complete, a screen will appear informing you that the new software version is ready to install. Faucet Install the update.
How to Update Your Mail App (i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo, Gmail, etc.) for iPhone
- To update your messaging app, go to app store, click on the circle in the upper right corner to the right of where it is written Today
- On the page that follows, scroll down and click Update all or you can find the specific messaging app and click on the Update button to install the latest version of this app
- We usually choose to update everything

Settings may vary depending on your Android phone manufacturer
To update your messaging app, go to Google Play Store, click the circle in the upper right corner. This circle will have the first initial of your Gmail email account.
- Click on Manage apps and device
- In the second row he will say Updates available
- you can click Update allOr See the details ( we usually choose to update everything)

2. Connect to a strong Wi-Fi network
While in Melissa’s case WiFi didn’t seem to speed up her email connection, it can sometimes fix the problem. Slow download speeds may be caused by a weak or unstable internet connection. 3. Check your email sync settings
Adjust your email sync settings to retrieve emails less frequently or only when manually refreshed. By reducing the frequency of syncing emails, not only will you save battery, but your phone will run faster. You can change these settings according to your preferences and needs. There are different ways to adjust your email sync settings on your iPhone and Android, depending on the type of email account you have and the app you use to access it. - Go to Settings
- Scroll to To post and press it
- Scroll down and tap Accounts
- At the bottom of the page, tapFetch new data

You can choose how often you want your iPhone to retrieve new emails from the server. You can selectEvery 15 minutes, Every 30 minutes, Schedule or Manually. For better battery life, recover less frequently.
How to Change Email Sync Settings on Android
Settings may vary depending on your Android phone manufacturer. The sync options are minimal compared to the iPhone sync options you see above.

4. Don’t send large attachments
It will take you longer to load emails with a lot of content, especially large attachments. Encourage your friends and family to limit sending large attachments, as they may take longer to download, especially if you have a slow internet connection or limited bandwidth.
The size of attachments and the speed of your internet connection can affect download times.
5. Empty some of your phone’s memory
Insufficient storage space is a major reason for emails not loading completely. If your phone memory is almost full, it can impact the performance of various apps, including your messaging app.
Make sure you have enough free space on your device for smooth email operation. Deleting old emails if your inbox is full is a great way to free up space, especially if you’re deleting emails with photos and other large attachments.
