The Indian team will begin a new cycle in the World Test Championship (WTC) on Wednesday when they face the West Indies in the first of two matches of the Test series at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica. India have not lost a Caribbean Test series for over two decades now, starting in 2002 and skipper Rohit Sharma will be looking to continue that winning run.
West Indies are reeling from the results of qualifying for the 2023 Cricket World Cup in Zimbabwe, where they failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup for the first time in the tournament’s history. However, they will be a tough team to beat in the longer home format.
India have struggled to win Test matches this year, losing two of their last four Tests – including the WTC final against Australia last month. They will have a new vice-captain in Ajinkya Rahane with Cheteshwar Pujara dropped. Rajasthan Royals young hitter Yashasvi Jaiswal who had a terrific run in the IPL 2023 is set to make his test debut in Dominica.

The way he performed in the IPL and then in the WTC final was just awesome,” pacemaker Navdeep Saini said as quoted by the Times of India newspaper.
